Louis Prima was born in New Orleans in 1910 to an Italian immigrant family and died there in 1978 at age 67. He was a trumpet player, singer and band leader who got his start playing traditional jazz in New Orleans in the 1920s and went on to a 50-year career. The show includes some of Louis Prima’s recordings as well as versions of songs from his repertoire played by other artists.
