One of his friends(band member) shared my semi-private room and Jack visited a few times with his guitar. He would give an impromptu jam session. He gave me a copy of his Jack Hardy album that I still have. Does anyone know about his brief history living in Aspen, CO? Just asking. Jack was at my house (I can't recall if he was performing at a house concert that evening, or had just come for a party), and asked me to take a few photos that he could use for publicity. I met Jack when he opened the show for Phil Ochs' farewell performance at Folk City. He was outstanding, of course, and i was mesmerized. I can't imagine a world without Jack Hardy or his week-by-week song genius. And I can't believe that a man really lies dead on Houston Street. - Barry Fingerhut, Bklyn, NY, former president of the Coop at Speakeasy.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3454101023481599661.post-15639135036457733672011-03-14T00:19:04.383-04:002011-03-14T00:19:04.383-04:00I am a longtime Jack fan, from back in the '80...I am a longtime Jack fan, from back in the '80s for the most part -- the salad days, in my opinion. I have noticed, as have you, that in many of the remembrances I have been reading, the fact that Jack was a GREAT songwriter seems to be frequently overlooked. I went through Jack's tunes stored on my ipod yesterday. 36 "tunes", and they are all GREAT. I have more stuffed away, in other formats, these were just simply favorites at one moment in time. When it came to folk music and songwriting, Jack was just rock solid. Though I had nothing but the most casual contact with Jack personally, I had subconsciously assumed that Jack would live forever, that he would always be there -- like the wind or rain. It just never occurred to me that I would be living in a world without Jack Hardy.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
